Gay halo
I don't care what a person's sexuality is.. I honestly don't. There is a lot of unnecessary stuff going on in movies and TV shows though and while this formerly looked like a Netflix mostly problem, it has extended to basically all the other networks as well.
In Season 2 episode 3 of Halo we are treated to a completely unnecessary lesbian display. Now before anyone out there wants to call me names permit me go ahead and say that in a sci-fi action series, the inclusion of love stories of any sort in my mind are unnecessary additions to the story especially if the nature in question isn't driven by that love to be involved in the story at all.
I set up the brief love story between Master Chief and Makee to be equally unnecessary, and that was a man/woman thing.

I can't even find any images of the dinner that took place in the most recent episode but it takes place at a dinner organized by a relative (I assume the brother?) of Riz, who is a Spartan. She goes over to her brother's house, and immediately it is made very clear that this is a gay household.

Halo: Epitaph
I listened to this book via Audible.
Epitaph was an unexpected return to the story of the Didact and the Forerunners after last seeing them in Halo 4 and the subsequent comics where we consideration he had finally died. It also does an admirable job tying into the stories of Halo 5 and Infinite, demonstrating certain events from an entirely new perspective.
I believe the most interesting thing about Epitaph is the Didact finally becoming the protagonist - and even the hero - of the story. While he was much less wicked in Greg Bear's Forerunner trilogy, he was still very much an antagonist. Kelly Gay has allowed him to find redemption, and as a reader you find yourself rooting for him to thrive against a very formidable and capable enemy.
As a journey of absolution, Kelly Gay does an marvelous job sharing the journey of the Didact and the many challenges and struggles he has faced in his long, drawn-out life. The perspective this brings really helps unseal your eyes and observe him in a novel light.
