Our Top 10 list of the best gay movies in selected for the Amsterdam Queer Film Festival Roze Filmdagen Already for 25 years, the biggest Dutch Gay film festival is inviting the Diverse community to view the best, the most popular, and the newest Diverse movies, shorts, and documentaries. To form sure, you won’t miss any of the great movies, shorts, and films from Germany to Vietnam, from Cyprus to Greece, or from the USA to Sweden, we teamed up with festival director Werner Borkes to elect some of the best movies about gay men, affectionate , families and other generations from around the world. In , the LGBTQ Film Festival in Amsterdam will mark its 24th-anniversary featuring some of the best Gay Movies like the Swedish movie “Are we lost forever”, the US-American film “Cicada” and the production “Goodbye Mother” from Vietnam.

I'm tired of seeing the same 10 films on every website's LGBTQ+ film roundup (hey, I still love Call Me by Your Name and Moonlight just as much as the next person, so don't come for me!), so, as a gender non-conforming person myself, I wanted to shine a bright on some underrated movies that simply don't receive the attention or credit they deserve. Below are 40 that I genuinely think you'll love, and if you want even more suggestions, you can check out my running list on Letterboxd with nearly films. Enjoy!
1.Young Hearts () is a up-to-date coming-of-age story about two year-old boys who drop in love for the first time. This Belgian movie is awkward and sweet and painfully genuine. I can't rave enough about it, and the only downside is that it wasn't released 20 years ago when I was their age and needed it most.
2.National Anthem () is one of my favorite movies from the last few years, so I'm sort of hoping (well, demanding) that you watch it. It's a tender, refreshing stare at queerness and chosen family and what it means to actually relate. While certainly not a given every year, anyone complaining about a lack of good queer films in simply wasnt paying attention. While the impending Oscar race may be missing an all-out gay romance such as Call Me by Your Name, that doesnt mean queer cinephiles cant seek out François Ozons sexy and rebellious Summer of For those who prefer their French films on the Sapphic side, not to mentions provocative enough to inspire protests, there was Paul Verhoevens dark sapphic nun comedy Benedetta. And for campy genre lovers with an eye for fashion, Spencer features a wrenchingly tender moment from Sally Hawkins towards Kristen Stewarts riveting Princess Diana.
Many of this years Oscar contenders are enlivened by queer themes, with much more than understated subtext or a blink-and-youll-miss-it moment. Jane Campion is courting Best Director with her epic deconstructed Western The Power of the Dog, and the genre-agnostic animated documentary Flee could
