Gay in the 80s

While there have, undoubtedly, been significant milestones in LGBT history in earlier decades, I believe the 80s was a particularly key period.

Ad for Christopher Highway magazine,

That decade saw a major shift towards the emergence of a global gay culture. The gay genie came right out of its small pink bottle and into the streets (and the media&#;and politics&#;and the arts&#;)

Ironically, much of this was driven by adversity. The appearance of HIV/AIDS was most certainly a factor: it ripped through our communities but, at the same time, engendered a spirit of unity and resistance that transcended national borders.

But there were many other storms &#; superb and small &#; that had to be weathered too. For example, in the US, the Court of Appeal ruled that there was no &#;fundamental right&#; to be gay.

In the UK, the Thatcher government created Section 28 of the Local Government Act, making it illegal for local authorities to support anything that might promote homosexual relationships as a viable alternative to heterosexual &#;family life&#;.

Best time of my life. I was 24 just came out, met other gay friends. The 3 of operate every friday started out dinner after work at Tiffanys in Greenwich Village then the Monster down the highway for dancing for way into the middle of the night. Then we took subway dwelling and slept all day. Next nighttime, Saturday, went out to eat in the Village and some bars and the best club back then ALEX IN WONDERLAND, for you got a ticket for 2 free drinks and 3 floors to dance, make out, play video games. Oh man, we stayed there until the dawns soon light on Sunday and then ate at Tiffanys for breakfast, took coach home to nap and and went back to metropolis for T-Dance. Where the hell we had the fire who knows. But again we were in our 20's. Now we're in our 60's and slower moving in Florida. I can honestly say the best years of my life were in my 20's dancing to Sylvester, Alex in Wonderland, was the finest time of my life, best friends of my experience. Now I am old in Florida. I already lived the best years of my animation and hope I will meet Sylvester when I proceed

80's Gay Porn Star Painting

Art should not be created but must just be. Muses and concepts are only illusions that separate us from the actual beauty in life and that life only exists in the dorment recesses of our unconscious subconscious where there is no reality and no resistance to the mundane and also scarred memories that we all strive to hide. Art should not be explained. What you spot , is what you feel. And what you feel is the only proof and fact, that we are alive and that we dream throughout our everlasting lives. Nobody can feel the same way as you and therefor "art", should not be explained like a Silverback Gorilla, not knowing that his only purpose in life is to look scary and intimidating, not realising that he is an attraction. A show. One that can justify its meaningfulness in society is to show us what we really ultimately are. Art is not a method of who can draw the best. If it were, Mr Kodak and Mr Sony would be very upset. "Without" explaining my work, I have to look back and try to realise what it is/was I was trying to convey. And after every work I arouse up
