Labor Evening Weekend is the unofficial end of summer, except on Galveston Island where it is Self-acceptance Galveston Weekend. It’s three days to celebrate all things queer like other Pride festivities, only with a tan. 

September 2 through 4, , will notice numerous activities on varying parts of the island capital. “The purpose of Pride Galveston is to embrace diversity, instill pride, and celebrate unity, as well as realize the contributions of the Gay, Queer woman , Bisexual, and Gender nonconforming community in the Galveston area. This shall be accomplished by raising awareness and promoting complete human and civil rights via teaching, celebrations, and immense networking to the fullest extent allowed by the ngo status of Identity Galveston,†says the organization’s website. 

Galveston, an island city of only 47, people, about 50 miles from downtown Houston, has a big and active Diverse community.

Juneteenth and Pride Month


We Are All Included

In June, diversity, equity, and inclusion take a step to the front with the celebrations of Juneteenth and Movement Month! These events seem to unofficially set the stage for showcasing the differences in everyone while highlighting what makes us all the same.

Juneteenth is one of the oldest recognized events in American history. When slavery was abolished in , pos did not reach everyone at the same time.  In evidence, it took until June of for slaves in Texas to get word that Lincoln had released the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed all slaves.

Pride Month is also a recognized event in American history. Its origin is not one people look to as a good moment.  It is one that has roots in an event that turned into a reaction of human rights, an observance that all people should be treated equally regardless of their sexual orientation, color, creed, or nationality.

Pride Galveston takes place from the 2nd to the 4th September

Pride Galveston is a registered non-profit organization founded and organized in Galveston, Texas. Pride Galveston incorporated on April 18, Pride Galveston is operated under the direction of a board of directors that is committed to working for the betterment of the Galveston community.

Pride Galveston began in as Pride Galveston Beach Bash & Block Party, when Jamie Fuller-Waymire & Terry Fuller-Waymire decided a Event festival would be a wonderful idea, as the island was lacking an event designed for the community. Pride Galveston, has since ballooned into a three-day celebration.

Beach Bash at Boddecker Dr., Galveston, Texas (Also known as Apffel East Beach).
We will also have free meal at the beach under the Pride Galveston Canopies. Walgreen’s will also be on hand with free water and other goodies!
