The government, led by President Erdoğan, has been intensifying its systematic attacks on LGBTI individuals since , when Istanbul Pride rally was banned for the first time. The İstanbul LGBTI+ Pride Week Committee issued a remark on social media after the forbid decision. The committee stated that the decision was unlawful and said:
