1. Gary Farrell Winery
Theresa Heredia of Gary Farrell Winery left her chemistry Ph.D. to work on what she really loved: making wine. Theresa hasn’t only been nominated for Winemaker of the Year, but she’s also led a partnership with the Human Rights Campaign. Her work with HRC ensures that those fighting for equal rights can always count on a great glass of Pinot (try ours).

Wine Country Pride (WCP), a charity dedicated to creating society and support systems for the North Willamette Valleys rural LGBTQIA+ community, celebrates Pride Month with various events in Oregon Wine Country beginning in Pride and continuing throughout the year. Rainbow Quest, Homosexual Wine Fest, Drag Extravaganza, and Wine Country Event Street Fair events finally culminate at the WCP Winter Ball in December.
Events will raise money for Wine Country Prides scholarship program in partnership with PFLAG Newberg. Together they provide college or vocational college scholarships to the areas LGBTQIA+ high school seniors, awarding seven scholarships last year alone.
Funds will also go toward supporting local businesses and organizations that advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as toward the creation of programs and eventssuch as queer meet ups and library book inclusivity initiativesthat aim to connect people through education, visibility, and fun.

When Jacob’s Creek became exclusive advertiser on the TV-show Friends, Diageo's Blossom Hill reacted by sponsoring Will en Grace, the male lover (beloved) TV-series - at USD 1,, for the run of 24 episodes (the bottle and glass set pictured on the left could have been crafted for that, but wasn't). Hardy Wines was prominently present on London’s Gay Pride Parade and Sydney’s Mardi Gras early ‘00s. Diageo later advertised with their HRC rating, showing Beaulieu wine.
But this concerned regular, existing wines, aimed at a gay audience. Some brands went one step further and created ‘gay wines’. In , blogger Tom Wark wrote: “It’s a fact, whether you like it or not, gay wines are here to stay. It all began as some sort of silly game: why would anyone need to drink a gay wine? What would be the special features that would make a wine “gay friendly”?” He did not have the answer…

My first of many LGBTQ+ wines is from a team of two winemakers, wife and wife, whose paths first crossed in through the wine industry. Their friendship grew through wine and travels, which also sparked their love. Their journey of friendship, love, and wine birthed their think winery, I’ve had the pleasure of tasting Camins 2 Dreams Grüner Veltliner and paired it with “Firekeeper’s Daughter” for Pouring Over Pages Podcast episode A perfect Pride Month pick.
