Sam Williams — grandson of Hank Williams and son of Hank Jr. — has come out as a gay man in the emotional video for his son “Tilted Crown” and in a recent appearance on Apple Music’s Proud Radio with Stalker Kelly. (Watch the video below.)
The song is on Williams’ recently-released album, Glasshouse Children: Tilted Crown, which is an expanded version of his debut album from , Glasshouse Children.
The video shows a man dressed to look a lot appreciate Sam’s father, C&W rebel Hank Williams Jr. with his aviator sunglasses, drawn-out hair and beard and cowboy hat, pushing a boy to be more masculine and to emphasis on music rather than playing fantasy dress-up games and playing with his sister. But Sam Williams stressed that, despite the resemblance, the video does not reflect his encounter growing up with his own father.
Sam told Hunter Kelly, “My bond with my dad wasn’t really like that at all. He didn’t shove me to be in music. He pushed me to go hunting, I do have to grant him that. He did push me to travel hunting. I just wanted to clear that up just in case.”

Hank Williams Jr.'s son, country singer Sam Williams, has come out as gay in the song video for his new anthem, "Tilted Crown," and a subsequent interview.
Williams' new video loosely documents his growing up, and it shows him kissing his lover on camera for the first time.
As People reports, Williams spoke to Hunter Kelly on Apple Music's Proud Radio With Hunter Kelly podcast, where he revealed that he had previously planned to speak to his sexuality in a video for another song that did not come to pass. The directors of his new video felt strongly that including the kiss would help tell the authentic story of his life.
